In 1854, trunk maker Louis Vuitton opened the world's first store specializing in travel bags on Rue des Capucines in Paris.
Thanks to the successful development of stackable flat-top trunks and the use of specially made waterproof canvas, the name Louis Vuitton quickly became famous.
The "Monogram" and "Damier" patterns were designed to combat counterfeiting and are now widely used across various products, becoming the brand's signature.
From 1997 to 2014, American designer Marc Jacobs was appointed creative director, leading Louis Vuitton's new collections to pioneer a whole new market.
It is no exaggeration to say that the Monogram series, along with collaborations with contemporary artists such as Stephen Sprouse, Yayoi Kusama, Takashi Murakami, and Hiroshi Fujiwara, showcased a new era for modern European brands.
