Mario Prada opened a leather goods store in Milan in 1913.
It gained favor with the Italian royal family for its high-quality leather products crafted with Italian artisan techniques.
In 1978, Mario's granddaughter Miuccia Prada became the brand's owner and designer. She adopted the lightweight and durable waterproof nylon material "Pokono" to make handbags, achieving great success. Subsequently, "Pokono" was applied to various products, including bags, backpacks, and small accessories, becoming a popular item representing Prada.
